Every other teacher whether principal or a regular class teacher needs to develop understanding within the organization, which will help to identify influences in learning and how it will assist the learning process. The teacher should provide observational techniques, research skills, reflective writing, and study skills, which will reflect all aspects of the performance in class, school management, and real-life situation. The duty of the principal is to deliver learning instructions in the most appropriate way. This will help the learners to gain knowledge and skills that are applicable to any specific sector in practical terms. Teachers should introduce the learner’s fields that enable them to develop skills while equipping them with critical thinking which is helpful in work experience placement. This will also give students a chance to use the schooling to gain understanding and knowledge as well as gather evidence that will support their progressing development.
For my paper, I chose Ali, a male high school teacher working in Saudi Arabia. Looking at his leadership and supervision capabilities, within the school, he adheres and follows rules and regulation policies that govern the procedures of driving the services in the organization. He ensures that the school rules adhere for the decent experience and progress of the students. According to Ali, the learners must observe rules and regulation of the organization for them to gain knowledge and skills that will enable work well with other staff in the future. Violating the policy will create a negative effect on values and beliefs of the school. Such situation may happen when the right values are not delivered within the organization. To avoid tension and conflicts in the place of work, Ali ensures that all individuals within the organization adhere to the rules and regulation governing service delivery and cooperation among all teachers, students, and workers in the school.
Mr. Alis day in the school starts at 7.00 a.m. when he arrives in the school and heads directly to the office where he has to prepare before the day begins. Looking at his early program, he deals with issues on the hallway with the head custodian that seems so urgent while discouraging lengthy discussion in the office. Obviously, in the office he turns on the computer to check emails or complete unfinished work. This entails the checking of the entire school timetable. Mr. Ali is a good time manager. He applies Use of Effective Time Management Strategies. The use of time management strategy in learning made it extremely successful. Time management is a major factor in learning, and Ali does everything to manage the time well, hence achieving overwhelming success. Time is a natural resource that cannot be recycled once it has been elapsed; it cannot be retrieved back, hence it is essential to keep time. Time management strategy was started with creating a timetable for various disciplines and their timeline. Once this timetable was fully accomplished then effective time management was implemented. The timetable was allocated to learners and, therefore, the full result is recorded. There is a variety of disciplines that are more important hence more time should be allocated to them. This is one of the rules that Ali adheres to with strictness.
Between 7-40 am to 8.20 am
Most teachers have already arrived in school and herein organize some chores with secretaries. Mr. Ali is still in the office meeting teachers and dealing with early appointments with some parents. His office is busy: teachers are using the copy machine, he is on phone after every 10 minutes, or so, in between he comes out check on the parking in case of stranded parent or visitor. I had a chance to pass by his office when he asked me about my progress in the class; he seems happy whenever a student stops by to see him.
Coming out of his office, I realize he is an authentic leader. Mr. Ali, exhibits authentic leadership that entails a self-actualized individual who is aware of strength, their emotions, and limitation. Mr. Ali demonstrates the real self to the staff and the students while focusing on the school mission. This enables him to set the organizational goals ahead of his self-interest. The job done in pursuing results of leadership is giving the heart, not just the mind to show emotions and vulnerability of working with the students. Connecting in a direct manner is critical to achieve success in desired goals within the school. Mr. Ali does it with empathy and directness without harsh emotions. Leadership always focuses on long-term achievements. He has realized that nurturing a school requires full effort, patience, and handwork to be administered.
He comes back to the office, after attending the assembly, for another appointment with parents, and I just realize that he was dealing with issue of a divorced parent who is worried about his son being on the care of the other spouse. Seems challenging, but Ali manages to solve so the parent was satisfied. Mr. Ali role in such cases is to listen, coach and mentor both the student and the parent. As a mentor, he sets out goals to be achieved, usually facilitated with a mentor working with a group of people for a period of time. During the process of mentoring, the agenda is undertaken to all and is expected to evolve over a certain time frame. Mentoring is a process that seeks to build knowledge and wisdom on the part of the student into realization of the need to work hard. Coaching is an activity set to meet specific objectives within a certain time frame. It is normally concerned with the development of certain skills within the student fraternity. Coaching is usually achieved through a process of communicating one on one. Considering both, Mr. Ali combines to achieve the desired outcome.
Between 10.30-11:50 a.m.
Mr. Ali walks from one class to the other with a clipboard where he goes and sits at the back of the class to observe how the students are being taught. At around 10:30, he comes to our class, where we were all exited on the same. While observing, he takes notes on his clipboard waiting for the teacher to review and to round up the lesson. We had a chance to ask him one or two questions depending on the topic taught. After the lessons, he walks downstairs where he meets the secretary to take the handwritten notes and retype them for formal observation form. Another parent heads to the office around 12.30 pm before the lunch break. Another chance to understand the issue, indeed a more serious one, involved with a parent accusing a teacher on various issues. The secretary goes to take the transcript of the discussion, I realized the meeting had to be postponed because it required discipline panel among other teachers.
After lunch, Mr. Ali heads to the music school where he has a meeting with the music teacher. He goes over the program and issue concerning the budget. After the music school, the secretary reminds him of the science fair, thus he heads directly to the auditorium to check on displays. Herein he receives some explanation on upcoming projects before commencing on another walkabout. From the walkabouts, it looks like the principal ensures that the students, and teachers should be aware that he always around within the school premise. Around 2.20 pm, he attends the final formal observation of the teacher. He sits at the back takes notes and after together with the teacher he goes to his office.

Before the end of afternoon classes and from my personal analysis, I realize that Mr. Ali is equipped with technical competence in running the school. Technical competence is leadership skills contributing to excellent performance during organization duties delegated to a leader in this case principal. Technical competencies Mr. Ali possesses are essential tools required by all organizations as a way of enhancing competition. Leaders use their competencies in developing strengths and paving way on what is required to achieve in their roles. With the help of technical competence, he is always in a position to determine specific competencies required on a certain level of the students and teachers.
Classes officially end and students are to be allowed to go home. The principal walks over to the schoolyard to oversee students going back home. From therein boards head to the science fair which is about to begin in the main auditorium. Mr. Ali joins us in walking through the exhibit area; he frequently stops to listen to student’s project explanations while shaking hands with parents who happen to have joined us. Indeed, through his leadership and supervision the school has had another successful science fair. From 4.00 pm, there are no more formal activities within the school and here Mr. Ali returns back to the office to end the day.
To conclude the working day of Mr. Ali, he shows a well-established and maintained peer relationship. Peer relationship is important in the academic success of every individual as it enriches life. Good maintenance of peers leads to a health growth of every person within the institution. Self-worth is one way of maintaining good peer relation as it involves the development of competence. Finally, Mr. Ali has personal intelligence, what contributes to nurturing social skills that help one to communicate with individuals around and understand their perceptions.
